Ian is a highly experienced finance professional and business advisor, executive coach, mentor and people strategy consultant.
As a chartered accountant he has worked with organisations in diverse sectors, from international public companies to private business and entrepreneurial start-ups. Specialising in corporate finance, he advised major organisations undergoing change and restructuring. He has established and managed multi-disciplinary teams, specialist business units and professional practice offices.
Ian’s varied and successful career as a senior partner within KPMG culminated in four years on the UK Board and Executive with global responsibility for people strategy. As Head of Human Resources he developed a global performance management system integrating corporate values and behaviours, and co-ordinated an Employer of Choice strategy which laid the foundations for KPMG’s subsequent achievement of consistent top ratings in the UK ‘Sunday Times Best Large Companies to Work For’. As a leader Ian was appreciated by his colleagues for “really living those values”.
As co-founder of Apsley Associates, Ian has continued to pursue his passion for encouraging the development of people, especially their leadership capability, to deliver improved business performance. Ian brings a wealth of wisdom and experience of individual and organisational change to his work with clients and communities. He has held voluntary non-executive positions within the secondary and higher education sectors.
Ian is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. He is a trained executive coach and mentor.
